I really like your Esqueleto Birth and the Our Lady retablo. Really nice and wonderful!
Thank you for noticing my stuff. I am new to making retablos, but I plan on making more. They are so personal and have such beautiful symbolism behind them.
I hope you don't mind me asking, does craft acrylic paint work for the tin, or does something else work better?
I first spray the nichos with a white or black rustoleum spray paint (I find that if you don't spray them first, there can be little rust spots that can come through the acrylic paint). Then I use acrylic paints - both artist acrylics and craft acrylics. It really depends on the thickness of the paint, which you don't want too thick. My husband used to paint miniatures for war gaming and acrylics for miniatures work really well - great consistency. If I can be of any other help to you, please let me know.
Thanks for the tip on painting the nichos....I guess it's just the moisture from the acrylic paint that causes them to rust??
